Depending on your current skill base and your own interests, you might be involved with, for example, geometric design of the track, rail structure modelling, quantity and cost calculations, drainage design as well as overall project optimization in cooperation with other designers. Rail projects are multi-disciplinary and they are substantially related to, for example, structural design of foundations, rocks, bridges and roads as well as traffic planning. Hereby, one of your main responsibilities is to coordinate all of these to keep safety and environment as a top priority and meet the demands of the future.

We expect, first and foremost, for you to show curiosity as well as entrepreneurial spirit– not to mention being thorough and responsible. In this position, you will work closely with both external and internal stakeholders, and so, we also expect you to be a communicative team player. In addition, we expect you to be technically savvy and have good command of some of the most common design softwares in the field. You can either be at the early stages of your career or already in a more established design position, but either way, we expect you to be eager to learn new tips and tricks in rail design. This is a unique opportunity to develop and grow as a Rail Design Engineer alongside versatile design tasks and major intelligent transport infrastructure projects!

We require you to:

  • Relevant education
  • Previous experience within civil engineering
  • Good command of some of the most common design software in the field (e.g. Tekla Civil, Novapoint, Bentley)
  • Eagerness to learn new things as well as an overall development-oriented approach
  • Fluency in English, preferably also in Finnish

 We consider as an asset:

  • Previous experience from similar design tasks

Pöyry offers you an independent and diverse role in Finland’s best rail design team. In addition, you will have access to the best design software in the industry, versatile employee benefits, range of personal and professional development opportunities and, of course, great and professional teammates. You will get an onboarding to the company’s operating environment and culture as well as support whenever needed to complete your work. The work is demanding, but the demand is counterbalanced by freedom, such as flexible working hours, which take into account different life situations: the position is, for example, also well suited for a student, as the working hours can be adapted to your studies on top of which the company offers the opportunity to do your final thesis.
