Are you excited about coordinating complex space projects and growing into a project management role? Join ASRO and help take space instrumentation from development to launch!

Your role with us

As a Junior Project Manager at Aboa Space Research (ASRO), you will join the microscope business area and support the project management of space projects. The projects focus on further developing ASRO’s microscope technology and platform, with missions currently planned for low Earth orbit and the Moon.

Working closely with the Business Area Director, you will help keep multidisciplinary development projects moving forward. Your responsibilities include coordinating schedules and meetings, tracking project actions and deadlines, and ensuring that the documentation and data packages are prepared according to the project requirements and on time.

You will work with experts across mechanics, electronics, software and optics, as well as with ESA, research partners, universities and suppliers. You may also coordinate component purchasing and help maintain project management tools such as Jira. As you gain experience, the role offers room to take on broader responsibilities and grow towards independently managing projects.

What makes you a great fit?

You might be at the beginning of your career and motivated to grow into a project management professional in a highly technical environment. You enjoy working with people, bringing structure to complex projects and making sure things keep moving forward.

You do not need to be an experienced Project Manager – at least not yet! What matters most is a proactive approach, curiosity toward technical systems, and the confidence to take ownership. You are also comfortable working in a growing and evolving organization, where your role can develop as you gain experience and take on more responsibility.

We hope you have:

  • A Master’s degree in engineering, natural sciences, or another relevant technical field
  • Some previous work experience, for example through internships, project work, or other relevant roles.
  • Interest in coordinating complex technical projects and keeping schedules, actions and documentation on track
  • A proactive and organized working style with the willingness to take ownership and learn
  • Good English skills and confidence working with different internal and external stakeholders

We consider as an asset:

  • Previous exposure to the space industry through studies, projects or work experience is a huge advantage
  • Experience in project-based or multidisciplinary engineering environments
  • Familiarity with Jira or other project management tools
  • Finnish language skills

What ASRO offers you?

  • Grow into a project management role by taking on real responsibility in ambitious space projects, supported by experienced colleagues.
  • Build broad technical understanding by working closely with specialists across mechanics, electronics, software and optics.
  • See your work directly support space missions from development and launch all the way to the Moon.
  • Shape your responsibilities as you develop, with room to gradually take ownership of increasingly complex project management tasks.
  • Flexible working methods and the possibility of partial remote work
  • Healthcare insurance as an employment benefit

Practicalities 🚀

This is a permanent, full-time role, and you will be employed directly by ASRO. The position is based at ASRO’s office in Turku, and regular on-site presence is important for close collaboration with the project teams. Partial remote work is also possible. The role may also include occasional travel, typically a few trips per year depending on the project.

Salary in this position is approximately 3000-4000 €/month, with the final salary determined based on your background, potential, and the amount of relevant expertise you bring to the role. We are also happy to hear about your salary expectations.

Recruitment process

  • Initial phone interviews with aTalent
  • On-site interviews with ASRO
