Know how to light a scene so it just works? On It Films is looking for Gaffers to join their freelance pool and bring Supercell’s community content to life.

What will you be doing?

As a Gaffer at On It Films, you’ll take ownership of lighting on set — making sure every scene is lit clearly, consistently, and efficiently. You’ll work on fast-paced productions creating community-driven YouTube content for Supercell’s global player base.

You’ll work closely with the DoP and production team to plan and execute lighting setups for green screen productions. Your role is to translate visual plans into practical setups — handling everything from rigging and power distribution to ensuring the lighting works exactly as intended on camera.

A big part of the role is preparation: pre-lighting, planning setups, and making sure everything is ready before the cameras roll. On set, you’ll lead the lighting crew and keep things moving. You’ll solve problems in real time, adapt quickly when plans change, and make sure setups are executed safely and efficiently. The goal is simple — smooth shoot days where everything just works.

You know lighting inside out and can build clean, effective setups without overcomplicating things. You’re calm under pressure and comfortable making quick decisions when needed. You understand that great lighting often goes unnoticed — and that’s exactly the point.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Gaffer or Best Boy in film, TV, or digital productions
• Strong understanding of lighting equipment, power distribution, and rigging
• Ability to build lighting setups efficiently, especially under tight schedules
• Good communication skills in English and ability to collaborate with DoPs and production teams
• Experience with green screen productions or studio environments
• Solid understanding of on-set safety and electrical standards

Practicalities:

This is a freelance-based opportunity where you will join On It Films’ Gaffer pool. Work is project-based, and assignments are offered based on production needs and mutual fit. Compensation is project-based and agreed separately for each assignment.

Typical production days are well-structured and last around 6–8 hours. The work takes place at On It Films’ studio in Supercell premises in Ruoholahti, Helsinki.
