Would you like to contribute to the development and delivery of major data center projects, and act as an electrical expert in a versatile role?

What will you be doing?

We are looking for an Electrical Expert to join Polarnode’s Technology & Delivery team, working at the core of data center project execution and technical design. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, bringing deep electrical expertise into projects from their early stages.

In this role, you will act as a Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and take ownership of grid connection and substation design and act as a key technical expert both internally and in client-facing discussions. Your work combines hands-on engineering, partner coordination, and system-level design across multiple ongoing projects. Your work will involve regular site visits across Finland.

Over time, you will have the opportunity to broaden your scope beyond electrical systems into other critical data center technologies. At Polarnode, you will be supported by a team with strong data center expertise, enabling you to gradually deepen your knowledge across disciplines and grow into an even more versatile technical expert. Your key responsibilities include:

• Designing Data Center grid connections and cabling solutions, including TSO/DSO engagement
• Developing system-level electrical designs for projects and substations
• Owning electrical documentation and technical studies
• Developing our design & engineering processes, tools and systems
• Reviewing and guiding partner designs
• Leading and developing our design & engineering partner network
• Collaborating with client engineering teams on technical topics

We require you to have:

• A relevant degree in electrical engineering (e.g. BSc or MSc)
• Several years of relevant work experience in electrical grids or similar environments
• Experience with grid connections and collaboration with TSOs/DSOs
• Understanding of HV systems, substation solutions and control & protection systems
• Experience in design tasks and the ability to take responsibility for larger entities
• Full working proficiency in English and Finnish

We consider as an asset:

• Experience working with grid operators or in energy sector projects
• Proven track record of completed projects
• Ability to operate in a customer-facing role as a technical expert
• Ability to lead the partner network

Practicalities:

This is a full-time and permanent position, and you will be employed directly by Polarnode. The role is based in Helsinki, with a hybrid working model. Start time in the role is negotiable.
