Want to bridge the gap between engineering and manufacturing in cutting-edge magnetic bearing technology?
What will you be doing?
SpinDrive is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join its R&D team in Lappeenranta. In this role, you’ll support the development and production of Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) components by combining practical assembly work with manufacturing development, workstation setup, documentation, and supplier coordination. You will report to SpinDrive’s Lead Mechanical Engineer and collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical engineers, suppliers, and supply chain stakeholders.
A key part of the role is to help establish and organize SpinDrive’s own practical test assembly and test winding capabilities. As SpinDrive develops its in-house workshop, you will help define the workspace, identify and source suitable tools, equipment, measuring instruments, consumables, insulation materials, and other workshop requirements as well as establish practical ways of working. You will use your industrial experience and knowledge of local suppliers and subcontractors to help us build an efficient and well-organized manufacturing environment.
The role includes hands-on coil winding and related electrical assembly, but it is broader than winding alone. We are looking for a practical manufacturing professional who can take ownership of day-to-day assembly test activities, organize the workstation and tooling, and support engineers during prototype builds. Serial production is later outsourced to SpinDrive international subcontractors, and you will help to support technical discussions with them.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will test, manufacture, and improve precision coil winding solutions for Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) components while supporting prototype production and assembly activities. You will perform test coil winding, preparation, soldering, insulation, impregnation, and related assembly processes, while helping establish and organize the required workspace, tooling, equipment, materials, and workflows.
Working closely with the engineering team, you will develop practical fixtures, tooling, work instructions, and assembly methods, interpret technical documentation, and provide feedback on manufacturability. You will establish appropriate quality, testing, documentation, and traceability practices and collaborate with local suppliers and subcontractors to source equipment, materials, tooling, and manufacturing services. You will also support technical discussions with SpinDrive international subcontractors for volume manufacturing.
What kind of person thrives in this role and why?
You might be the person we are looking for if you enjoy hands-on technical work and taking responsibility for making a workshop and manufacturing process work in practice. You are comfortable operating in an environment where processes, tooling, and workspaces are still being developed, and you enjoy finding practical solutions rather than waiting for predefined procedures.
We especially value practical manufacturing experience, good organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with engineers and suppliers. Experience with local Finnish manufacturing suppliers and subcontractors is particularly valuable, as the role will involve building the practical infrastructure around our in-house assembly activities.

The onboarding period will take place primarily in Lappeenranta and is expected to last approximately 2–3 months. The start date is as soon as possible, but the latest in November 2026.
