Ramboll is a leading engineering, design and consultancy company founded in Denmark in 1945. The company employs more than 15,000 experts globally and has especially strong representation in the Nordics, UK, North America, Continental Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific. With 300 offices in 35 countries, Ramboll combines local experience with a global knowledgebase constantly striving to achieve inspiring and exacting solutions that make a genuine difference to our clients, the end-users, and society at large. Ramboll works across the following markets: Buildings, Transport, Planning & Urban Design, Water, Environment & Health, Energy and Management Consulting.
We are currently looking for a technically savvy (assistant) design engineer to join the award-winning, international bridge team at Ramboll. The experience of Ramboll spans major crossings through to skateboard parks and small pedestrian bridges providing all the skills needed across the entire bridge lifecycle. Ramboll’s clients include local authorities, bridge operators and owners, government bodies, contractors as well as developers.
As a design engineer, then, you will assist in designing bridges ranging from concept design of new bridges through to the design of repair and strengthening solutions for existing bridges, including design of temporary works for bridge maintenance and replacement. More specifically, in today’s computer-aided design environment, you will carry responsibility for intelligent information modelling and use 3D-modelling to present bridge projects from a variety of vantage points prior to construction, facilitating the support and execution of a complete and final design. Crossings, such as bridges, are not just ways of efficiently getting from A to B, but also important drivers of economic activity and growth, and so, as an independent team player, you will have an important role in supporting the bridge team in delivering well-designed structures and bringing major crossings to life.
You are someone who first and foremost is interested in learning more about bridge design. More specifically, you might already have some previous experience in civil engineering, or even in bridge design, but you should at least feel comfortable and confident about learning more about bridge design projects and their differences in scope and level of design. In addition to having a curious and bright mind, you are a proactive self-starter with Rock’n’Roll -attitude!
We require you to have:
- Relevant educational background in engineering (e.g. structural, or similar)
- Previous work experience within civil engineering, preferably bridge design
- Good command of 3D-modelling software applications (e.g. Tekla, Grasshopper, Revit, Rhino, or similar)
- Genuine interest towards problem-solving
- Good communication skills and fluency in English
We consider as an asset:
- Basic command of Finite Element Analysis software applications, (e.g. Lusas)
- Knowledge in Finnish
