Coolbrook, developing next-generation electrification systems for heavy industry, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join its Delivery & Aftermarket team!


What will you be doing?

As a Lead Electrical Engineer at Coolbrook, you will act as Coolbrook’s expert in large-scale electrical systems, providing critical expertise to evaluate partner solutions, assess customer grid connections, and coordinate electrical aspects of delivery projects. You will play an important role in feasibility studies, customer engagement, and delivery execution, establishing the foundation for Coolbrook’s electrification solutions in industrial-scale process heating.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as Coolbrook’s primary electrical expert, ensuring all project electrical aspects are properly evaluated and executed.
  • Evaluate and challenge partner solutions for performance, cost, and compliance.
  • Assess customer power grid connections and define needed modifications for electrification.
  • Support sales and feasibility phases through electrical assessments and client collaboration.
  • Join site visits to refine requirements and verify system integration.
  • Lead power electronics scope and coordinate suppliers and engineering partners.
  • Supervise electrical design to meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
  • Resolve technical issues during design, delivery, and commissioning.
  • Advance Coolbrook’s electrical engineering practices and guidelines.

You are an experienced and hands-on electrical engineering professional with solid expertise in industrial-scale systems, power electronics, and motor drives. You combine deep technical insight with strong communication skills, enabling you to represent Coolbrook confidently in discussions with OEMs, partners, and customers, and to work effectively in international, cross-functional project teams.

We require you to have:

  • Several years of experience in electrical engineering with proven expertise in industrial-scale systems
  • Experience with large-scale electrical motor applications (5+ MW) and Variable Speed Drive implementations
  • Understanding of power electronics, control/protection systems, and industrial site integration
  • Ability to evaluate customer power grid connections and identify modifications for electrification projects
  • Good communication and collaboration skills in English
  • Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 50+ days per year)

We consider as an asset:

  • Expertise in control, protection, and plant-level electrical systems (DCS/SCADA)
  • Experience in pioneering industrial or technology development projects
  • Knowledge of grid connection standards and long-term design specification work

Practicalities:

This is a full-time and permanent position where you will be employed directly by Coolbrook. The preferred start time in the role is as soon as possible but negotiable. The role will be located preferably in Helsinki, and we hope you are able to work at the office at least a few days per week as part of a hybrid model. International travel is part of the role, including site visits, supplier meetings, and internal project collaboration.
