Curious about development projects, data-driven process optimization and sustainability in global supply chain management? Join Wärtsilä Energy’s Supply Planning & Development team and help us shape smarter, more sustainable ways of working.

Key responsibilities

In this position, your focus will be on managing and executing development projects that improve Wärtsilä’s supply chain processes, sustainability practices and data-driven ways of working. You will take ownership of your projects from scoping to implementation, whether the topic is familiar to you or something you learn on the way. Your work may touch on areas such as CO₂ data development, supplier information practices, digitalisation, system improvements or reducing manual work through smarter data management.

You will work closely with colleagues across supply management, sourcing, quality, sustainability and digital development. Together with these experts, you will identify improvement opportunities, collect and structure relevant data, create clear materials and help turn development ideas into practical, user-friendly solutions. You will be supported by a team of development professionals, so you do not need to be a specialist in every topic — what matters most is your curiosity, initiative and ability to move projects forward.

What makes you a great fit?

You are a proactive self-starter who enjoys navigating new topics, structuring complex information and driving development work forward with a solution-oriented mindset. You communicate clearly, work well with different stakeholders and keep a positive, curious attitude when learning something new.

What we are looking for

  • Several years of experience in project coordination or development work
  • Understanding of supply chain or procurement processes and the ability to apply that insight in development initiatives
  • A relevant academic background in engineering, supply chain, business or a similar field
  • An analytical working style with the ability to handle data in a structured and reliable way
  • Exposure to development work related to systems, digitalisation or data flows
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in English

Additionally valued:

  • Expertise with sustainability themes and CO₂ reporting
  • Experience in integrating regulatory frameworks like CBAM into supply chain processes
  • Familiarity with tools such as SharePoint, Salesforce, Power BI, SAP or other ERP systems
  • Understanding of data flows and basic system integrations
  • Experience in strategic sourcing and/or supplier development and quality
  • Interest in AI-supported development or emerging digital tools
  • Good skills in Finnish

Wärtsilä will offer you:

  • Versatile responsibilities where you’ll get to lead diverse development projects that will enhance Wärtsilä’s competitiveness, sustainable development and risk management
  • A truly international working environment where you will get to collaborate with a variety of colleagues from different departments
  • Good introduction to Wärtsilä’s operations and processes, so that you can understand the development needs and start building the roadmap
  • An opportunity to continue discussions of future employment before ending the 12-month period
  • Team of seasoned professionals who will guide and support you along the way

Practicalities:

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months, where you will join Wärtsilä Energy as aTalent’s employee. We hope you are available to start as soon as possible.

The preferred location for this role is Helsinki, but working mainly from Vaasa is also possible. We hope you can visit the Helsinki office weekly and are open to occasional travel to Vaasa.

Salary in this position is negotiated based on your experience and background.
