Automation Engineer (Automated Guided Vehicles)

Navitec Systems is a high-tech company specialized in navigation and controls of mobile machinery. Navitec started automating machinery in the mining and nuclear waste handling industry but today the company focuses on material handling with AGVs. Navitec has developed advanced products in this business area: Navitrol is a software package for vehicle positioning and control and Navithor is a fleet control software for synchronizing the operation of autonomous vehicles. These products are sold worldwide and the company is devoted to further develop them and the related tool programs according to the needs of their customers. Navitec’s target is to grow and take a large share of the worldwide market in their business area.

Navitec is now looking for programming-oriented Automation Engineers to join their product development team! In this role you will help drive the company’s products forward by creating new features and improving existing ones. Depending on your skills and interests, you will either work with vehicle positioning and control (Navitrol) or fleet control (Navithor). Navitec’s products are applicable to a wide variety of industries, including aviation, automotive, logistics and healthcare. In this particular position you would be mainly working with automation projects for various clients around the world.

As an ideal candidate, you have a background in automation and knowledge of C or C# language. Possibly you already have some work experience within the field but in any case, Navitec is prepared to help you to get started! Your team members will support you in your role, but you are expected to show initiative and proactively manage your own work. Though you mostly work at the office in Leppävaara, you should also be willing to travel abroad on short business trips to a variety of destinations.

The job description is flexible and can later be expanded according to your own interests. You can for example participate in implementation projects in the customer interface. At Navitec your own ideas will be valued, and you will be encouraged to share them with the team.

 We look for:

  • Knowledge of automation
  • C or C# programming skills
  • Relevant educational background (e.g. automation engineering)
  • Motivation to learn and a proactive attitude
  • Teamwork skills and independent problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel within Finland and abroad
  • Fluency in English

We consider as an advantage:

  • Fluency in Finnish or German
