We are looking for a (Senior) Game Server Developer to join our passionate Critical Ops team, would this be the next step for you?

Critical Force is looking for a self-driven (Senior) Game Server Developer to join the team on a mission to take Critical Ops to the next level. This is a new position with plenty of responsibility, as you will play a key role in ensuring a high quality real-time game experience for our millions of monthly players. With your team of game programmers, testers and designers, you will collaborate to improve the game’s technical architecture, quality and standards. Your responsibilities include monitoring and developing the server performance and the communication between the server and the app. You will monitor and fix server issues, identify and optimize bottlenecks in server performance, and develop technologies and frameworks that other developers can build upon. Our server development is primarily done with .NET and Unity. We utilize multithreaded architectures, Docker as a containerizing tool, and Git for version control.

This is a unique opportunity for you if you have a few years of experience in server or game development, preferably with real-time servers. You have strong skills with .NET and multithreaded architectures, and you are familiar with Git. In this role, you will work closely with your team members both in Finland and around the world, and therefore good collaboration skills are valued. We hope you are also willing to work independently and take ownership of your tasks after your onboarding is finalized. We hope you have:

  • Few years of experience in real-time (game) server development. Skills in web development are considered an asset.
  • Strong skills with the following technologies or frameworks: .NET, Docker, and Git. Skills with Unity are seen as an advantage
  • Experience with multithreaded architectures
  • Understanding of network protocols and latency compensation techniques
  • Debugging skills
  • Fluent English language skills

This is a full-time, permanent position and you will be employed directly to Critical Force. Our HQ is located in Kajaani, and we have another office in Helsinki, but a flexible remote work option is available as well. There are also team members located around Finland, so you can meet your team in other cities as well. However, we hope you are able to visit the Kajaani office at least occasionally, and we offer you free accommodation in Kajaani during your visit.
