NorsepowerSoftware Engineer (Automation and control systems)

Norsepower offers Rotor Sail Systems for reducing the environmental impact of shipping and is looking for a motivated and skilled Software Engineer.

As a Software Engineer, you will be part of the Automation and Electric team and you will play a key role in developing control and IoT-related software. As a part of a multidisciplinary team, you have a great possibility to widen your expertise in the fields of automation, electrical and marine engineering by for example taking part in commissioning and site operations on and off-shore.

To succeed in this position, we expect you to have at least one year of experience in software development and a routine of following industrial software quality practices. Understanding of machine learning, control theory, and digital twin applications is welcome and skills to build and model control systems with Matlab Simulink are highly appreciated. You are going to work in close collaboration with different stakeholders, so we hope you have good communication and collaboration skills. As a software engineer, you will have a wide variety of tasks and we hope you are always eager to learn new and develop your expertise. Above all, Norsepower values a hands-on attitude and drive to get the job done!

Norsepower’s Rotor Sail Solution is a mechanical sail that harnesses the wind to reduce the ship’s fuel consumption and emissions. It is the first commercially available auxiliary wind propulsion solution with a proven track record of successful operation since 2014. Norsepower project services cover all phases from the case study preparation to the Rotor Sail Solution delivery. Each project is planned according to the client’s needs and preferences.

We require you to have:

  • Relevant educational background, such as an M.Sc. in Automation Engineering, Control engineering, Information Technology or Signal processing

  • At least one-year work experience in programming (C/C++)

  • Willingness to work with multiple platforms and programming languages

  • Familiarity with Matlab Simulink

  • Experience with real-time systems (PLC/Microcontrollers/Embedded systems)

  • Fluency in English

  • Willingness to travel (about 30 days per year)

We consider as an asset:

  • PLC programming experience

  • Experience with Azure and cloud services

  • Full-stack web development experience
