SampoAccounting Specialist

Sampo plc is looking for an insurance business-oriented Accounting Specialist with cash management experience to take responsibility for diverse tasks in its Group accounting and financial reporting team.

One of your main responsibilities is to handle the cash managements tasks of Sampo plc with your colleagues. For a more experienced specialist this involves an opportunity to develop procedures and establish best practices and guidelines for day-to-day cash management tasks together with the team.

Your other tasks consist of assisting the financial reporting department on general administrative tasks including accounts payable tasks, updating various documentations, process descriptions, assisting in preparation of financial reporting and communication with Sampo’s subsidiaries.

In addition, you will be helping in compiling the Sampo plc’s financial accounts according to the Finnish accounting standards. As part of your responsibilities, you will participate with the team in various process and documentation enhancement projects as well as IT development projects, which may be related to Sampo plc or Sampo Group level reporting processes.

You are expected to have:

  • Suitable higher education degree, such as MSc in Econ or BBA

  • At least a few years’ experience within accounting functions, audit or equivalent, including experience in cash management

  • Basic knowledge of Finnish Accounting Standards and other relevant Finnish statutory requirements

  • Strong communication skills and a systematic and proactive working style as well as flexibility to different tasks and responsibilities

  • Proper IT skills and eagerness to learn new procedures and systems

  • Full working proficiency both in Finnish and English

Considered as an asset:

  • Previous work experience in insurance or other financial sectors

  • Knowledge related to taxation (income tax and VAT)

Practicalities:

This is a full-time and permanent position, and you will be employed directly to Sampo plc. The position is wished to be started in May or June 2024. You’ll work at Sampo HQ in Fabianinkatu 27, Helsinki with a hybrid model (minimum three days at the office).
