Join Varian’s Oncology Software Solutions organization, and the work you do can make a difference by helping to create a world without fear of cancer. We develop and manufacture products and solutions that innovate, support and streamline cancer-fighting solutions worldwide. Our teams have a common drive to help others, and a passion for excellence. Join Varian and add your talent to the fight against cancer.

We are looking for a quality-oriented Test Automation Engineer to join our Helsinki based team. The team develops a radiation therapy treatment planning system called Eclipse. Windows-based Eclipse was first released in 2001 and it has tens of thousands of users in cancer clinics globally. You will join a team of fifteen members consisting of highly-skilled software developers and testers. The team also co-operates closely with other Eclipse development teams and with other product development teams globally.

In this role you will participate as a member of a cross-functional software development team in product development activities from feature inception to production focusing on the development of automated tests. Daily tasks include test automation activities such as test planning, designing and identifying areas that will benefit most from test automation. You will implement and maintain unit, integration and system level automated tests with C++, C# and test automation tools, investigate test failures and report defects. You will also support your team members to further develop their test automation skills and practices.

This position is ideal for someone with a holistic attitude to quality and who always wants to deliver the best product possible. You see test automation as an integral part of software development that affects product quality and time to market and you have an insight on which tests should be done manually and which should be automated. You are capable to work both in a team and independently. Support and help from experienced colleagues are always near.

We are looking for:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a relevant field (e.g. computer science) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in software development, testing and/or quality assurance (longer experience is a plus)
  • Solid skills and understanding of at least some of the following: unit tests, integration tests and/or system-level automated tests
  • Independent programming skills in C++
  • Fluent skills in English

We consider as an asset:

  • Programming skills in C#
  • Experience in test automation tools (e.g. Robot Framework)
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Understanding of medical device development requirements

Varian offers you:

  • A meaningful job in the development of an interesting & important product with tens of thousands of users
  • A comprehensive onboarding, an opportunity to broaden your skills and career path according to your interests − we encourage continuous learning
  • Interesting problem-solving challenges and professional growth supported by your highly-skilled team members
  • A multicultural and international work community
  • A competitive salary and fringe benefits, such as lunch benefit, sports & culture benefit, and medical insurance
  • Office facilities with good connections near Helsinki city centre
