The era of data has led to an increasing amount of regulations and laws regarding data protection. Enterprises around the world are struggling to find the best method for data sanitization across their IT assets. This is where Blancco, their data erasure solutions, and hopefully you come in! Blancco is looking for a Software Developer to join their product development team either in Joensuu or Espoo.

In this role you will work on one of our flagship products: the Blancco Drive Eraser, a software for permanent data erasure for HDDs/SSDs in PCs, laptops and servers. You’ll participate in all stages of the development cycle from defining requirements, planning and designing to hands-on programming, testing and debugging. The software is Linux based, built on Qt framework with C++. We recognize our software development to be moderately complex which is why we are hoping that you have previous work experience from commercial software development. However, we don’t have strict roles in our team and depending on your skills and interest, we have several interesting areas you might want to dig deeper into, ranging from low-level programming to UI development and to information security. We can also offer challenges and a lot of responsibility even to a senior level developer and the role is customizable for different kinds of backgrounds.

At Blancco you would be joining a self-organized and agile development team working with Scrum methods. Relatedly, we tend to slice our development cycle into two-week sprints under which each team member has strong autonomy to affect their own development work. Our developers like to challenge the idea of “impossible”, producing elegant, simple and high quality solutions so we hope that you share our analytical mindset. With our experienced team you’ll have the opportunity to take your skills to the next level but equally we are looking to learn from you.

In this position you will be employed directly by Blancco.

We expect:

-Skills in C++ programming and Linux OS

-Experience in developing Qt/QML desktop applications

-Some years of relevant work experience

-Ability and aspiration to work autonomously as part of a Scrum team – constantly willing to learn more but also foster colleagues’ development

-Fluent skills in English

We appreciate but don’t require:

-Knowledge of storage technologies and/or software security

-Skills in fullstack development
