What we do

We are a significant independent fuel procurement company in the Baltic Sea region and we also actively operate on the global trading market. We specialize in oil and renewable products wholesale in Finland, Sweden and Norway. NEOT is owned by SOK and St1 Nordic Oy and we work in close cooperation with our owners. Annually we supply roughly 7 billion litres of fuel products to our owners’ operations, including large service station chains St1, ABC and Shell. We employ around 50 people.

As a Tax and Customs Manager your mission is to master NEOT’s tax and customs setup, processes and guidelines. This is a new position and the responsibilities included have previously been distributed among different teams and professionals. In a nutshell, the objective of this position is to make sure tax and customs matters are taken into account and addressed as well as possible both in the current and future NEOT operations.

Your responsibilities include outlining and managing NEOT’s processes and guidelines related to tax and customs setup. You will be developing new and improving already existing processes and guidelines as well as ensuring their adequate implementation and use within the organisation. This includes organising internal training sessions regularly. In this role, you will also get to contribute to daily operational tasks by offering support to operators and traders in resolving tax and customs matters, for example. You are also responsible for compiling case-specific process descriptions and directives for traders and operators.

You are expected to stay updated on different countries’ tax and customs legislation and regulation as well as continuously conduct active risk analysis. Relatedly, you are to regularly report on changes in the operating environment to the management. Ultimately you respond to the CFO. Besides internal stakeholders, you will be cooperating on tax and customs matters with external stakeholders via engaging in audits and tax inspections, as an example.

Due to the responsible and holistic role, we expect you to have a relevant third level degree as well as several years’ work experience focused on taxation and/or customs. We don’t expect you to be a complete master of both worlds but demand a solid background in either. You should also be prepared to do some travelling (mostly one-day trips, though) within the role.

We expect you to:

  • Have a solid background in taxation and/or customs through relevant work experience
  • Have a relevant third level degree
  • Be motivated to make your colleagues better via sharing your own expertise while also being able to produce results independently
  • Be able to travel occasionally
  • Function effortlessly in English (company language) and in Finnish (external stakeholders)

We consider as an asset:

  • Swedish language skills
